Getting Admitted to a Master's Program Just Got Easier!
ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ undergraduates with a 3.0 GPA or higher can be considered for admission into a master's program without having to complete the full application packet - and the application fee is waived.

To be eligible, you must...
- be a current student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ within the past five years
- be seeking a master's degree in the same or related field of study as your undergraduate degree
- meet the requirements established by each program

The Valdosta State University Graduate School's streamlined admission process is available for the master's programs below.
MA Communication Arts
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Current ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ within the past five years
- Majoring in or possesses an undergraduate degree in Communication, Communication with the Public Relations track, Mass Media, or Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Communication or Mass Media
- Required Documents
- Career Goal Statement - a 500 word essay describing your interest in this degree and future career plans
- Writing sample - a sample of strong academic writing (no more than ten pages) or links to up to 3 web-based creative works

MA English
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- GPA of 3.2 or higher
- ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ students majoring in English, History, or Interdisciplinary Studies
- Required Documents
- Writing sample from the field of English (no more than 15 pages)
- Letter of recommendation from a ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ English department faculty member (ideally from an upper-division course)
MED in Communication Disorders
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- GPA of 3.8 or higher
- Current CSD ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ with an undergraduate degree in CSD within the past 5 years
MS Biology, non-thesis option
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Current ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ within the past five years
- Majoring in or possess an undergraduate degree in Biology
OR
MS Biology, Accelerated Track 4+1, non-thesis option
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- Overall 3.0 GPA or higher in undergraduate Biology coursework
- Earned Bs or better in the 9 credit hours of graduate coursework as part of the Biology Accelerated track

MED in Elementary Education
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be employed as a teacher of record
- Current ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ BSED Elementary Education student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education within the past 2 years
MS in Criminal Justice Administration
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- 3.0 GPA or higher and earned a B in Statistics, Research Methods, and Theory
- Current ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ within the past 5 years
- Majoring in a degree program in the social sciences e.g. Criminal Justice, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, etc.

- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Current ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ within the past 5 years
- Majoring in a degree program in the humanities or social sciences e.g. Political Science, Organizational Leadership, History, Criminal Justice, Sociology & Anthropology, English, Interdisciplinary Studies, Psychology, World Languages, etc.

Masters in Accounting
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- 3.25 GPA or higher
- Current ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ within the past 5 years
- Majoring in or possess an undergraduate degree in Accounting
If you are accepted through the Master of Accounting Direct Admission process, you may qualify for a scholarship. Once accepted, you can apply for the scholarship through Scholarship Universe.

Masters in Business Administration
Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- 3.25 GPA or higher
- Current ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ within the past 5 years
- Majoring in a degree program within the Langdale College of Business Administration e.g Accounting, Applied Economics, Finance, General Business, Management, and Marketing. Direct Admission is also open to majors in any other degree program.
If you are accepted through the Master of Business Administration Direct Admission process, you may qualify for a scholarship. Once accepted, you can apply for the scholarship through Scholarship Universe.

Direct Admission Eligibility Requirements
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Current ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ student or graduated from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓÆµ within the past 2 years or up to 5 years for Choral Conducting applicants
- Majoring in or possesses an undergraduate degree in Music (General), Music (Music Education track), or Music Performance

What If You are Nominated for Direct Admission?
If the Graduate Program Coordinator nominates you for direct admission, you will...
- receive notification by email with the next steps
- complete the application - no need to submit the application fee, test scores, transcripts, or other materials
- receive official admission letter with instructions to meet with your advisor
- register for classes
The nomination for direct admission is valid for one academic year i.e. you may complete the application and enroll in any semester within the following calendar year.
