VALDOSTA – Nick M. Rosatti of Hahira, ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ is the recipient of the 2022 Male Student-Athlete Academic Award at Valdosta State University. This is his second time earning this honor.
“I’m actually a bit relieved to earn this award again,” he said. “One of my driving forces is fear. I’m afraid of letting down people who I respect. Within my different roles at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ, I look up to a plethora of amazing people, and I ultimately want to make them proud.”
“However, this feeling extends beyond interpersonal relationships,” he continued. “I’ve been immersed in ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ athletics since I was a child and want nothing more than to continue ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s precedent of excellence. In sum, I want to be a person ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ is proud to have. This award, to some degree, exemplifies that mentality.”
The Student-Athlete Academic Award is presented to a junior, senior, or graduate student-athlete with the highest grade point average. Ties are not broken. Rosatti competed with the ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ cross country team through Fall 2021 and serves as a graduate assistant coach with the ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ men’s and women’s tennis teams.
“As a coach, winning the Gulf South Conference tennis tournament with the men last year was a surreal feeling,” he said. “As a kid, I watched Head Tennis Coach John Hansen win national championships and plenty of GSC titles, but knowing that I had a direct influence on the outcome makes it even more satisfying.”
Rosatti is pursuing a Doctor of Education in Leadership and anticipates graduating from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ in May 2024. He recently graduated with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership in May 2021.
Rosatti hopes to remain at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ for a very long time. His top career goal “is to serve ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ to the best of my abilities within my functional areas, and I will be grateful for the doors that might open and quick to seize any chance to support ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s ongoing tradition of excellence.”
Rosatti’s commitment to academic, athletic, leadership, and service excellence resulted in him earning the Fall 2019 Blazer Award for men’s cross country and the Fall 2020 Student-Athlete Academic Spotlight Award. His supportive family includes parents Tony and Elizabeth Rosatti.
